Height/Build Hazel looks very young! Percy says she looks "no more than thirteen" and so she doesn't really have any features of a young teenager. She's more childlike in appearance. She does have some muscle from military training, but that's about it. She stands about 150" and between 95-105lb.
Hair Color/Eye Color Cinnamon colored Hair, 14-karat-gold eyes
Notable Traits A tattoo on her right forearm with the glyph for Pluto, SPQR, and one horizontal line for service.

If your character can sense death that is definitely something they'll notice! If they're capable of reading auras/abilites/godliness/etc that's also something to be aware of. Hazel is the daughter of the Roman God Pluto and is more or less the representation of the wealth side of is domain. She would ping as riches, death, earth, and misfortune.

* Hazel's age is a bit of a trick. Fandom likes to go "but it's been such-and-such time so they're really x years old!" about the underworld children... but that's not really true. Chronologically, yes, she was born in 1928 and died in 1942. The book series is in 2013 now so she's "technically" 84. She spent 70 years in the Underworld sitting under a tree and trying to get to her father's palace. She didn't, however, really have any sort of concept of time.

Alright, now even though everyone says she's thirteen her timeline gets a bit weird. Things went to shit December 17, 1941-- her birthday-- for her so she was forced to move to Alaska. She spends about six months there as she dies sometime midsummer. Then she comes back just after the events of the Last Olympian, she was in Camp Jupiter for eight months. She should now be about 14 if we count "living" years, but Percy still says she looks like a child when he meets her so she either is a) not aging or b) is a late bloomer.

...I kind of fall towards the former because of the fact she is an escaped soul. There's no documented cases of souls escaping the Underworld and surviving. Hazel is still tied down to her past even without her blackouts being forced anymore. So it's highly likely that she's just stuck.

Hello. THIS IS ANOTHER PERMISSIONS POST. Wow.

So if you don't know canon, Hazel is the wealth side of Pluto's power. It means her domain is more over the earth then death (also Pluto was more about that then death anyway ~the more you know~). UNFORTUNATELY, though, while the power itself is supposed to be really cool! Uh... Her mom basically summoned her dad to be super rich and when he offered her anything she wanted guess what she asked for.

In short, Hazel is cursed thanks to her mother. Thanks. And whenever she takes the rest of her memories/skills in Aather (which she'll do shortly) that curse will be back. Being in gemstone realm means that it will definitely be a thing.

What does that mean for you?

The curse is essentially this: if there's any precious metals/gems/etc nearby it'll find Hazel. We see things like gold from the U.S. treasury appear, it can be any size. This is different from her usual summoning: it's unwilling. They find her and they're cursed. Usually, Hazel will pick them up and/or they'll disappear after a little while but if she's really stressed more have a habit of appearing.

She's already bracing herself for the possibility and will pretty much immediately go to try and find a persona that will help her lock it, if at all possible. In the meantime, the curse will be there.

SO. IF YOU'VE EVER WANTED TO BRING MISFORTUNE TO YOUR CHARACTER NOW'S YOUR CHANCE.
This will only happen if your character picks up one of the gems that appears. The effects can be minimal (terrible bad luck for a day) or extreme (some guy lost a limb, but it could also lead to death). So realistically you could be as silly as you want with it or as serious. The smaller/less valuable it is the safer, so keep that in mind.

The moment she finds out it's a thing that's happening though, Hazel will definitely do something about it. So this will only be about a week or so. And she'd also immediately tell anyone who tries to pick one up in front of her that it's 'dangerous'. So this is a short term kind of thing to play with.

But I don't want to put anyone in a situation where they feel they're forced to play with it. Likewise, if you want the opportunity to be cursed (...for whatever reason...) I'd also like to let you/let me know since that will have an impact on Hazel's character from here.

What I'd like to know is if anyone would be okay with these things appearing near Hazel in threads with them! This doesn't mean you have to touch them since her automatic reaction is "NO DON'T". But it does leave the alternative of your character picking it up anyway.
Or maybe your character found one she didn't notice! And you'd like to play with it! That is a-okay too, just let me know '^'

What it means:
It's not a skill that comes up a lot for her in canon (because thankfully her friends are usually NOT dying by the time she acquires it) but what it means is that Hazel has an acute awareness of death. She can read when someone has died. Not exactly how just that they're dead and vaguely when. This also comes with an ability to understand if lingering spirits are in a place.

She's also capable of knowing if someone is dying. It's said in canon Nico and her would definitely know if something happened to Percy and Annabeth, even though they were all the way in Tartarus at the time.

Of course, nearly everyone has died in Aather at least once, but she'd also be able to recognize canon deaths. Which means!:

Since everyone else is doing info posts for future skills I thought I'd throw one up, too.

Her half-brother Nico has almost all of the dealing with death/darkness powers, but there's one they share: death radar. Which is pretty much what it says on the tin.

Basically, there's three factors:
» If you died before she'd be able to tell.
» If you're close by and in a position where you could possibly die she can read that life force.
» If someone she knows is far away/in another area and they are dying/die she will know.

Some of this will be limited (esp. on the distance part) but what this will effectively do is Hazel will know you died at any point in time.

...So, yeah! An info post. What I'm asking for is this:
» Has your character died at any point in time? Either in Aather or in their own canons? And would Hazel be able to know?

-- For this, I don't want to be like Hazel knows x died because that can be a topic you don't want to go into! Or others to know. Or don't have the memory back of yet and so timey-wimey deathdealings. So the powercap can fix that. But icly, even if she did know someone died, she would not bring it up to anyone unless the person who died contacts her first about it. So you won't have to worry about it spreading around.
